Ciara’s spread in Men’s Fitness

Posted by thejamkingshow on April 15, 2009

There’s no reason staying fit can’t be fun. R&B diva Ciara reveals all the moves you need to create an amazing new body, here is some of her tips for some of the lady’s out there, the girl knows she’s in shape! We wonder is there a magazine out there for the beer belly hustlers!!

Take a look at the confident woman on these pages and you’d have a hard time believing there was ever a time when Ciara didn’t like the way she looked. “Growing up, I was insecure about a lot of things. I was like a chicken, with skinny legs,” says the 23-year-old, who towered over most of her classmates as a teenager. “I’m in a totally different place now.” Yeah, you could say that. Today, the R&B singer–known as much for her strong, sexy dance moves as her chart-busting albums–is a woman at home in her own skin.

That may be because she’s gotten into fighting shape prepping for the February release of Fantasy Ride, an eclectic album (“a roller coaster” is the way Ciara describes it) featuring everything from slow jams to up-tempo house. “I like to step outside the box and challenge myself,” she says with a smile.

That drive started years ago. The only child of military parents (her father served in the Army; her mother was in the Air Force), she lived in Germany and throughout the States before settling in Atlanta. She embraced exercising as a high school track star and cheerleader. “I was always the base [in pyramids and stunts],” she explains. “So there was a lot of lifting of other girls.”

As Ciara describes her upcoming tour, it’s clear she’s still into heavy lifting. “We’re going to intensify the dancing this time around,” she says. “I want to give my fans something special.” Here, Ciara shares how she got her body into show-it-off shape: an energizing fitness routine combined with a refreshingly realistic and guilt-free attitude toward food. All of it is music to our ears.

Train–and eat–like you mean it. “When I was younger, I would play around. I would work out and then eat a burrito afterward. Now I take it seriously–no salt, low salt. It’s strict, but when I follow those rules, I see results.” Working with her trainer, Sean Moon, for an hour a day five to six times a week and being more mindful of what she eats has worked. “A lot of people don’t realize that when you’re trying to lose weight, or just trying to stay fit, 85 percent of it is what you eat, and 15 percent of it is how you work out,” she says. “And listening to that voice in your head that says, ‘I’m gonna get me a burger–I just went to the gym, so it will be OK,’ is a bad idea. You can ruin your whole day with a big cinnamon bun. I’m taking that into account now.”

Target your tummy. Like most of us, Ciara has her trouble spot. “I don’t mind [weight] going to my rear end, but sometimes it goes down to my stomach. I’m like, can you just go to my butt, please?” She stays sleek by doing lots of cardio and by “keeping my stomach squeezed in throughout the day.” Crunches are also key. “We do advanced ab work–probably 500 ab exercises total per session, though sometimes we’ll stop at 200.”

Make Madonna your workout buddy. Normally, Ciara works out to music. “I like up-tempo songs,” she says. “Madonna has a lot of those–her newer stuff, especially, has a cool vibe.” Ciara also gets a great workout rehearsing dance moves for her tour. “I want to get into different things like tap and ballet.” But, she says, you don’t have to be a pro to reap the fat-burning rewards of shaking your booty. “Dancing–however you do it, even if it’s in your living room–is a great workout.”

Get ESPN-zoned. When she’s not listening to Madonna at the gym, Ciara revs herself up by checking out the action on ESPN. “I have so much respect for athletes like LeBron James. I get motivation from them because I know how many hours they put into it. It takes a lot of hard work and drive.” Sometimes, though, you have to be your own role model. “There’s nothing better than seeing results,” she says. “That’s more motivating than anything.”

Max out on mini meals. Rather than sitting down to three squares a day, Ciara prefers five to eight smaller meals when she’s following a rigorous training schedule. A sample menu: One whole-grain pancake with egg whites and some fruit on the side for breakfast, followed by a midmorning fruit snack. Lunch might be steak with broccoli and a baked potato, followed by another snack. For an afternoon boost, she’ll nibble on half a sandwich of turkey with lettuce. Her favorite energy-boosting dinner: whole-wheat pasta with “a cool sauce.” And she never skimps on water. “Drinking tons of water is extremely important. When I’m training, I drink a gallon a day.”

But don’t you dare deprive yourself. An occasional visit to the Cheesecake Factory (Ciara’s favorite splurge spot) isn’t going to kill you. “Food is fun. And for those moments when you want to enjoy yourself, don’t beat yourself up. I have moments when I want to eat pizza or a hamburger–I’m not going to drive myself crazy.”

Remember that saying “Your body is a temple”? Well, it’s true, so show some respect. Recently Ciara pulled a hamstring while rehearsing for a video and paid a visit to her chiropractor. “We’re doing cool things to heal it, like stretching. I think stuff like that is important. When you treat your body well, it will treat you well. Treat it badly, and you’ll feel what happens.”

KINGSTON – Representatives of some hospitals revealed that more men have been fracturing their penises in recent months than any other time in Jamaica.
Checks with urologists in some of the country’s major hospitals have revealed that the “noticeable increase” in the number of cases where men fracture their members is largely attributed to the men’s obsession with daggerin’, aka rough sex.
While promising to send data regarding to the increase in the cases at a later date, one urologist from the Kingston Public Hospital (KPH) said he had treated, on average, some two cases of penile fracture each month, counting from December 2008.
“We’ve noticed an increase,” the doctor said.
“Almost every other week, since late last year, there is one case for this hospital.”
Another surgeon from that facility said the majority of cases that come to the hospital are a result of extremely vigorous sex or, in most recent popular terms, ‘daggeration’.
“It’s possibly daggerin’ people tend to have a predisposition to rough sex,” the surgeon said.
“(So) during very rigorous intercourse, the penis slips out and in an attempt to ram it back in, the man hits the woman’s pubic bone and pops the penis.”
The situation was no different when doctors from the western end of the island were contacted.
One specialist in the field told THE STAR that broken penises had been coming into the Cornwall Regional Hospital more than usual since the start of the year.
“There has been an increase here in the number of cases. Since the year started, I’ve seen about four. Usually, we would have like three cases quarterly,” the specialist said.
The doctors could not confirm if any of the cases regarding the broken penis took place when the men were doing the dance version of daggerin’ as opposed to rough intercourse.
In a story published last September, Dr Alverston Bailey, a past president of the Medical Association of Jamaica, warned that men who suffered a penile fracture should immediately seek medical assistance as leaving it unattended might cause the penis to be permanently deformed or they might become impotent.
Bailey continued that when the penis was fractured there was a loud popping sound, followed by excruciating pain and significant swelling, causing the penis to appear deformed. He noted that in some cases, blood might be seen coming from the organ.

HIV-positive pop star arrested over unprotected-sex charge

Posted by thejamkingshow on April 15, 2009

Mama always said what looks good (“Ain’t” good all the time boy!!) German pop group “No Angels” with Nadja Benaissa (L-R) Lucy Diakovska, Sandy Moelling and Jessica Wahls. Police have arrested Nadja Benaissa the 26-year-old singer in Germany’s most successful girl band, “No Angels”, on suspicion of infecting a man with the HIV virus by having unprotected sex, prosecutors said April 14, 2009. “There is an urgent suspicion that the accused had unprotected sexual intercourse with three people in the years 2004 and 2006 without indicating beforehand that she was HIV positive,” said the prosecutors. One of the three men is now HIV positive, possibly as a consequence of his sexual relations with Benaissa.

No Angels are Germany’s most successful girl band, with 5 million album sales in their first three years. The group was formed in 2000, when they won in the Popstars talent competition on German RTL television.

Benaissa was arrested Saturday night in a Frankfurt Disco, German daily Bild reported. The newspaper said the singer was about to give a solo appearance.

Benaissa was charged with dangerous bodily harm, and kept in custody as the investigating judge decided there was a risk she would repeat the alleged deed.

If found guilty, Benaissa could face six months to ten years in prison.

The singer has one daughter, born in 1999.

No Angels performed Germany’s entry to the 2008 Eurovision song contest, in which they came last. Benaissa’s lawyers said there was no evidence that their client had acted in a criminal way.

Ok so giving up the love knowing that you are infected is not a criminal act??! remind me never to go to gremany, dam the rain coat you will need some SCUBA GEAR!!

This is excellent news. Impressive.
I will gladly give them my business

NEW YORK — Drugstore operator Walgreen will offer free clinic visits to the unemployed and uninsured for the rest of the year, providing tests and routine treatment for minor ailments through its walk-in clinics _ though patients will still pay for precriptions.

Walgreen said patients who lose their job and health insurance after March 31 will be able to get free treatment at its in-store Take Care clinics for respiratory problems, allergies, infections and skin conditions, among other ailments. Typically those treatments cost $59 or more for patients with no insurance.

Hal Rosenbluth, chairman of the Take Care Health Systems division, described the plan as something close to an experiment: He said Walgreen isn’t sure of patient demand or how much providing the services might cost the company.

It’s likely to generate more attention for the clinics, however. Rosenbluth said a typical Take Care patient tells eight other people about his or her experience. So far, about 30 percent of Take Care patients were new customers to Walgreen.

The program is expected to last through the end of 2009. Walgreen runs 341 Take Care clinics in 35 markets around the country, including Chicago, Atlanta, Miami and Cleveland.

Free services will be offered only from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Walgreen said it will not offer free checkups, vaccinations or other injections because it is focusing on providing services patients might otherwise get at an urgent-care center or even an emergency room.

Patients must present proof they are unemployed, including a federal or state unemployment determination letter and an unemployment check stub. They will have to sign a form at the clinic saying they have lost their jobs and health benefits. If they find a new job or get new health insurance, they will no longer be eligible for free care.

Spouses and children are also eligible for free services if they don’t have insurance of their own.

Medical lab operator Quest Diagnostics is participating in the program by offering free tests for step throat and urinary tract infections.

Walgreen bought the Take Care clinics in May 2007. Take Care says it has seen about 1.2 million patients since its launch in November 2005 and estimates that up to 30 percent of them were uninsured.

Padma Lakshmi must hate vegetarians.

The 38-year-old Top Chef host stars in a new commercial for Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s, and if there’s such a thing as burger porn, this is it.

Lakshmi doesn’t just eat a Carl’s Jr.’s Western Bacon Cheeseburger. She devours it ravenously. She makes love to it with her teeth. Then she hikes up her skirt and licks the running grease and ketchup off of her palm.

As she explains in her 2007 cookbook, Tangy, Tart, How and Sweet, the Western Bacon Cheeseburger has been a passionate subject for Lakshmi since she was a teen.

“The sublimely pleasurable taste of bacon…was further enhanced by its mingling with the barbeque sauce, greedily licked off as it dripped down my teenage fingers,” Lakshmi wrote.

Whew—who’s mouth isn’t watering right about now?

That is probably the luckiest burger ever.

The beloved Valerie Bertinelli (c’mon, One Day at a Time, Eddie Van Halen’s ex, TV movie queen?) is celebrating her new, dramatically slimmer figure by donning a bikini for the first time since she was 20 for People.

Bertinelli is the spokesperson for weight-loss program Jenny Craig, and attributes her new body to the program and intense physical training.

Before she began Jenny, Bertinelli weight 172 pounds. She was able to slim down to 132 and then hired a physical trainer to help with the rest.

And she also dropped her regular “splurge” glass of champagne. That’s sacrifice.

“I never, ever, ever had deltoids!” she says. “Oh my God, when I’m doing exercises and I see them pop out, I’m like, Yes!”

When People asked her to pose in the skimpy two-piece, she had a temporary case of the jitters.

“I thought, Am I really going to do this? Can I pull this off?” she admits.”What am I so afraid of? Come on—it’s just a bathing suit!”

Not on you, Valerie.

Have your say in the comments section: What do you think of Valerie Bertinelli’s new bikini body?
